In March of 2000, Brandt Construction, Inc. was contracted to build a new 24,500 SF two-story world headquarters for the Academy of Model Aeronautics in Muncie, Indiana. Building components included concrete foundations, structural steel frame, membrane roof, metal panel and glass curtain wall exterior skin, and a closed loop geothermal heating and cooling system. Extensive sitework included signage, walks, pond excavation, parking lots, and “Fly Area” restroom facilities. The project was completed on schedule in March 2001.

Features:

  • Two-story atrium lobby, decorated with model aircraft, that is capped by a vertical element reminiscent of an airport control tower.
  • Observation decks provide unique vantage points overlooking the 1,000 acre model aviator’s playground.
  • 1.5 acre pond facilitates a closed loop geothermal heating and cooling system.
  • Second floor conference center
  • Accommodates gatherings of 100 members.
