In January of 2000, Brandt Construction, Inc. began the reconstruction of the east wall of the historic Athenaeum building in downtown Indianapolis. The project consisted of the complete restoration of the 46' high by 100' wide storefront, as well as the preservation of 157 windows located on all building elevations. This project was not without challenges, all work was completed during the dead of winter and by May to accommodate outdoor dining and concerts in the beer garden.

Features:·

  • Twenty new milling knives had to be made to match the 27 horizontal trim profiles.
  • 157 windows were refurbished and repaired in place to restore the historic integrity of the windows.
  • Through snow storms and extreme cold weather, Brandt completed the project two weeks ahead of schedule and within the owners budget.
  • Brandt Construction, Inc. erected scaffold, tented, and heated the entire elevation throughout the duration of the project.
  • All the carpentry work on the project was completed by Brandt Construction employees.
