In late 2003 Brandt Construction, inc. was contracted to remodel the basement and 3rd floor of the Indiana Regional Blood Center. Construction was completed in phases to maintain occupancy and to not disrupt department functions. Both project scopes expanded and changed during design and construction, but Brandt Construction, Inc. and the owner worked together to control the schedule and costs. The project included the renovation of three departments on the third floor, and the gutting and remodeling of the basement to enlarge and restructure it. Both projects were Design Build cost plus projects that were completed on time and within budget.

Features:

• Extensive mechanical, electrical and plumbing work was done in the basement including a new sprinkler system, alarm, intercom, and an emergency power system.

• The basement was gutted and remodeled in phases to not disrupt operations while still giving the department room to grow and expand.

• The 3rd floor housed (3) departments that were remodeled one after the other while moving each department into the large lunch room during various phases of construction.
