Construction
began on this historic re-creation in the fall of 2003.
The owner wanted to recreate his childhood home that exists in
Avon, IN. Front porch posts, doors, woodwork and hardware
were removed from the old home, restored and installed in the
new home. The front exterior of the new home is identical
to the old home. A replica smoke house and milk shed were
also constructed on the new property. The side, back, exteriors,
and the inside of the home were constructed to accommodate more
modern amenities. The project was completed in July of 2004.
Features:
- Front of the house is the re-creation of a 1930's farmhouse
- Mantels, doors, millwork and hardware were removed from the
old home, refinished and installed in the new home.
- Re-creations of the old smokehouse and milk shed were constructed
on the new property.
- Build-in cabinetry in many areas of the house.
- Home theater sized screen.
- Wrap around screen porch on the back and side of the house.
