Brandt Construction, Inc. began the renovation of the 80 year old Hillcrest Country Club in April of 2001.  Construction value engineering was completed at the beginning of the project to reduce the project's cost.

This project was completed in phases to enable the Club to accommodate the owner's scheduled activities.  First, the front facade of the building and several small additions were completely removed.  Then the new service elevator tower, grand staircase tower, and the ballroom/port cochere additions began.  The new construction tied in to the existing building, so special care was taken to insure all floor and roof elevations were matched.  Next, new utility services were installed.  The final phase consisted of a complete gut and remodel of the 3rd floor (lounge, kitchen, and dining room) and a small addition to the rear of the building.  The project was completed in time for the Dedication and Grand Opening ceremonies in April 2002.

Features:

  • Numerous patterns of existing exterior stucco were matched to achieve an even flow in the exterior look of the building.
  • 55,000 man hours of work were performed on this project with no recordable, restricted or lost time accidents.
  • The existing chimney was demolished due to water damage and rebuilt while lining it with a flexible liner for exhausting basement level mechanicals.
  • Additional work to the project included re-roofing the entire existing building, extra window, additional mechanical work, and an exterior dining area of stamped concrete.
  • A new underpinning plan had to be devised before beginning new footings or walls for the new service tower due to an existing addition not having a foundation down to the basement level.
