In July of 2000, Brandt Construction, Inc. began construction on a new school for Holy Cross Church. The project included renovation of the former 17,000 SF two-story school most recently used for Section 8 housing and the construction of a 19,000 SF two-story addition with an elevator. Structure for the addition included structural steel frame, bar joist, metal deck, and concrete floors. Exterior finishes were brick and glass curtain wall façade with a built-up roof. The project was completed as scheduled in April 2001.

Features:

  • Upon completion of the new school, the old two-story school was demolished without damage to the new building just ten feet away.
  • Little staging area required materials to be delivered as needed.
  • New school provides facilities for 200 kindergarten through eighth grade students.
  • New atrium gathering space allows teachers an alternative to classroom activities.
  • Sitework included a garden area, new sidewalks, recreation area, and parking.
