Plans
for this project began in February of 1996 and were completed
in November of 1997. Brandt Construction, Inc. was awarded this
contract in December of 1997. The groundbreaking ceremony was
held on January 11, 1998 with all those in attendance bringing
their own shovels to help pitch in. Brandt Construction, Inc.
began work a week later. The scope of this project consisted of
a new 4,000 square foot narthex, a new 14,000 square foot sanctuary,
renovation of the existing sanctuary and a storage area with multiple
rooms in the partial basement. The exterior of this church was
constructed from Indiana sandstone, EIFS, and limestone. This
was used to match the existing church and help minimize the cost.
This project was a true indication of teamwork with no major problems.
The dedication was held on November 22, 1998 with over 1,400 people
attending.
Features:
The
floor to peak elevation of the sanctuary is 48 feet.
- The narthex includes a baptismal font and a skylight.
- The seating capacity of the sanctuary is 800 people.
- The interior finishes consist of carpet, ceramic tile, wood
trim, vinyl base, vinyl clad tile and pews.
- The exterior windows have been installed with stained glass
to bring out the traditional values of the church.
