On May 28, 1999, Brandt Construction, Inc. was awarded a contract from Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church (Bethel AME). The contract scope included complete renovation of the 103 year old sanctuary, narthex, restroom facilities, kitchen, and Pastor’s offices. Brandt Construction, Inc. fabricated and installed forty-seven (47) newel posts and four hundred (400) intricately detailed balusters which make up the balcony railings, altar railings, and choir railing. These pieces were detailed and fabricated from original pictures of the church. Because local mills would not guarantee completion by August 10, Brandt Construction, Inc. accepted the challenge with their own skilled craftsman.

Features:

  • All work had to be completed in 10 weeks to allow the church to have a previously scheduled church service on August 15, 1999 for over 1000 people.
  • 30% of the contract involved work by Brandt's carpenters.
  • With stock material from various suppliers, Brandt’s carpenters milled, lathed, scrolled, assembled and installed all railings.
