The
Elliott’s Block Project was a historical restoration and
renovation completed in the winter of 1999. This project consisted
of turning this 125 year old building into a mixed use building
with a restaurant and luxury suites. The first and second floors
house the restaurant, Malibu Grill, with the second floor overlooking
the first floor. The remaining third and fourth floors house the
luxury suites. The third floor has 4 luxury suites, and a penthouse
suite utilizes the fourth floor in its entirety. This building
was restored and renovated literally from the inside-out, from
the sewer line beneath the building to the addition of the fourth
floor, which was an addition to the original three story building.
Features:
The
Basement had to be excavated over 3 ft. to allow for adequate
ceiling height and still allow for routing of the many mechanical
systems overhead.
- The pressed tin ceiling, on the first floor, had to be completely
dismantled for later reconfiguration.
- On the second floor a large section of the floor was removed
to provide an overlook of the first floor dining area.
- The fourth floor addition required removing the existing
roof and designing the structural steel to fit the existing
post and beam construction.
