The
Seminole building was originally built in 1914 as a bachelor apartment
hotel. The cost for construction was $75,000. It consisted of
72 furnished rooms with a lobby and a basement. It eventually
fell into disrepair and sat vacant for over 14 years. Brandt Construction,
Inc. completely removed all interior walls and mechanical systems.
The original building was divided into 18 unique modern apartments
(6 per floor), while the new addition houses 15 handicap adaptable
apartments (5 per floor). Many of the historic and unique architectural
features of the original building were preserved and carried over
to the new addition, while still providing modern living conveniences.
Features:
The
1st floor corridor tile floor and wooden stair case were restored
to their original design.
- After demolition, there was nothing but the exterior walls,
roof and floors.
- The existing building was renovated to house 18 modern apartments,
while the addition housed 15.
- A four stop elevator was added to the original building.
- The existing building and addition offers 17 handicap adaptable
apartments.
